Top Ten Favorite…Places to Eat (and the Foods I Crave Fort-Nightly)

In no particular order:

Tucci's Cucina Italiana – Spaghetti and Meatball or Pasta Farfalle (a new find, but I've a feeling I'll crave it fort-nightly)

Costa Vida – Sweet Pork anything (Yum!)

Chili's – two words, Memphis Rub

Cracker Barrel – Grilled Pork Chop with apple sauce and green beans (delish!)

Pila's Kitchen – Scrambled egg sandwiches, homemade fudge, real home cooking (Never heard of it? You might say it's a "private club for members")

Jamba Juice – Pomegranate Paradise

Olive Garden – Minestrone soup

Hagermann's Bakehouse – Roast Beef ala Chris with an oatmeal cranberry cookie (mmm!)

The Cheesecake Factory – Shepherd's pie and anything chocolate

Mimi's CafĂ© – I have yet to have something here I didn't like, but my #1 favorite is the buttermilk spice muffins

Cornish Pasties

Cornish Pasties (pronounce PASS-tees)

Crust.
1 1/4 cups shortening (crisco)
3 cups flour
1/3 cup cold water
1 egg beaten
1 tablespoon white vinegar

Filling
1 lb round steak in 1/8" cubes (Mom uses hamburger, Turkey burger works well too)
2 diced potatoes
1 small onion, chopped fine (I used a handful of dried onion, rehydrated)
1 teaspoon chopped parsley (good without)
2 teaspoons salt
1/2 teaspoon pepper
2 tablespoons butter

Cut shortening into flour until small beads appear. Stir in water, egg and vinegar. Roll into a ball. Refrigerate until chilled. Roll out. Using an 8" plate as a guide, cut out 5 circles. Set aside.

Combine steak, potatoes, onion and parsley. Sprinkle with salt and pepper Toss. Put a mound of filling in the centre of each circle. Dot with butter. Fold half of circle over mound. Press edges, Cut slits in top. Put in baking pan and bake at 400* for 20 minutes. Reduce heat to 325*for 45 more minutes.

These go really well with a glass of cold milk (and they're good cold the next day too)

You've Gotta Love This!
