Good News!

One of my cutest boys is coming to town this weekend. His momma has decided that for his birthday he could come down from Seattle to see us all! I am looking forward to spending some time with him and getting squished in one of his giant bear hugs.

p.s. -- if you're the momma of said nephew and you read this today (being the 27th of March) HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

p.p.s. -- and to the niece: yes, i do have a cat. His name is Gus. 99.9% of the time he's crazy. The other 0.1% of the time he's asleep.

El sabado de la Pascua

Today it is very lovely outside. The sun is shining and the birds are singing in the trees. Flowers are springing up in the yard and the natives (Marges, Gus and I) are getting restless. I would love to spend all day outside, but I have tons of Spanish homework to do today and there is the ever present laundry situation. However, let it be written that I will spend some time outside today.

We decided this morning to whang* (whang is a very technical term, exact definition unknown) all of the windows open and let the air and warmth into the house. We also decided that is would be okay for Gus to spend a little time outside this morning. He's been pent up in the house ever since last week's traumatic event (we think he got hit by a car). He's doing much better now and has been longing for the fresh air. Can't say as I blame him.

Tomorrow is Easter, so Marges and I decide to buy some eggs for coloring and to dig out the Easter baskets, in hopes that Peter Cottontail will bring us some fun treats.

I've come to the conclusion this week that Spanish is very hard. I am not getting the whole past-tense thing. They have two of them you know, 1-preterite and 2-imperfect (I think there may even be more. Very confusing -- if only I'd been born a Spanish princess I wouldn't be having these problems.

Work has been crazy ever since the promotion. My team worked their tails off this weeks to accomplish 10,000 titles online in honor of our boss's birthday (which is today). For a while there I was a little skeptical that we would reach the goal, but by yesterday afternoon we had reached the 10,000 mark. It felt really good to have a goal to work toward and we were all very excited when we found out we had reached it! Yay for us!

In other news, we bought Gus a lot of toys and he really likes them. That is all for now.

"What's with today, today?"

O frabjous day! Callooh! Callay!

I just received some very surprising, shocking and happy news. I was just promoted to "Team Leader" status and a given a very healthly raise. I cannot tell a lie, I knew something was coming, but nothing like this. I am both stunned and speechless. Wahoo!!!

"Nature of Claim: Christmas Tree Through Window"

This morning as Marges and I were backing out of the garage we heard a very strange sound. It was rather hard to describe so I won't try.

All of the sudden we see the Mickey Mouse antenna topper (along with my antenna falling in front of the windshield. After a chorus of "What the Heck!" and exiting the garage we discover my antenna has been broken clean off the top of my car.

Apparently the rope on our very old school garage door opener entwined itself around said antenna and removed it from my car.

I'm pretty sure that's not covered under the warranty -- or the insurance company.

New car anyone?

'08 the Year of the Baby

So, '08 has only just begun and so far this year 4 of the women I care a lot about are going to be mothers, 1 of them for the first time. I think this is a record year for babies or something. I am literally counting down the moments until my little sister annouces she's gone and joined the expectant mother club as well.

The cool thing, 2 of the 4 babies will be actual nieces and/or nephews (depending on the outcome) and the other 2 will be surrogate nieces and/or nephews (once again depending on the outcome). So I will get to see, hold, love a lot of babies by the end of the year.

That's a lot of babies. But that's okay, babies are wonderful and I'm excited and happy to welcome each of these little ones into this great big, crazy world.
