Peeps -- Not Just For Easter Anymore

Who among you doesn't enjoy the quintessential Easter treat that comes in the shape of pastel bunnies and chicks, better known as Peeps. IF you have never had a Peep, first, shame on you, secondly they are a fairly tasty sugar covered marshmallow treat. I always get a pack for Easter, eat one and then the rest die a slow painful death into the realm of too stale to eat. This year was no different, Marge supplied the Peeps, I ate none of them...fast forward to last week's camping trip...I still had the Peeps and the thought occurred to me...Peeps are marshmallows, marshmallows are good roasted, ergo it would be worth a shot to try a roasted Peep, so along they came to Clyde Creek Canyon.

For the record, all 10 Peeps were roasted in the flames of the campfire, and all 10 roasted Peeps were happily, if not eagerly devoured by all present. For those who are curious as to the taste of a roasted Peep...

Imagine if you will, a roasty toasty marshmallow wrapped in a crispy cotton candy shell. I can think of no better combination.

So. The next time your at your corner drug store and you see Peeps on the shelf, whether next Easter or this Halloween or Christmas (they come in ALL seasons now), pick up a package of Peeps, find yourself a flame and roast away.

I HIGHLY recommend it and as the crazy survey people at the Mall used to say to us as they horn-swoggled us into taking a brief survey "Your opinion counts."

Stale Peeps are the best!

The next trick is putting a peep in the mircowave. That is by far the most brainless fun to be had. Put it in for 15 sec and watch in go. I won't ruin it and tell you waht happens. You have to try it to see.
